About Us . . .

At first, one might think that the roots of Grace extend only to our beginnings as a congregation in 1925.  Or, perhaps, because we are a Lutheran congregation, the thought might be that our genesis dates back to 1517, Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation. In fact, our roots run much deeper.

While Grace did most certainly establish itself as a congregation in Western Springs, Il in 1925 and while we are also most certainly a product of the Protestant Reformation, still adhering to the Bible as the Word of God and the Book of Concord as a correct explication of that Word, our roots, in reality, run straight to a hill outside of Jerusalem some 2000 years ago.  There, our Lord Jesus Christ died on a cross for us. The benefits of his death extend all the way to us today in the twenty-first century.

Grace Lutheran Church exists because of Jesus.  We are part of his great mission to bring life and salvation to all people.  As a congregation of those who believe and follow Jesus as our Lord, we realize that we do not exist for ourselves.  We exist for him and for others.  We exist for you as a place where you can come and receive the blessings of forgiveness and eternal life that Jesus has so freely granted to us.

We invite you to join us, to learn of Jesus’ amazing grace and to grow with us as his people, living authentic Christian lives in service to him and to one another.
